Manchester creates climate change agency

The Greater Manchester authorities which comprise 10 councils have agreed to launch a climate change agency.
The creation of the agency is a response to research that has identified the cost of climate change might be £20 billion over the next 12 years if no intervention is made.

Glass imploder recycles glass on site at hotel


A castle hotel in Wales is the latest company to take advantage of an innovative glass recycling invention by Dorset based firm Krysteline. The Grade II Bodelwyddan Castle in Denbighshire, North Wales, is now owned by the Bourne Leisure Group. Guests can enjoy luxury surroundings, a health suite and even a maze in the grounds surrounded by 200 acres of parkland.

Ecuador forest could be lost for five days' oil

The mayor of the Amazonian province of Orellana in Ecuador, Anita Rivas, is coming to London today to deliver a heartfelt appeal to the UK government: "Save the Yasuní National Park by helping keep its oil underground".

The Yasuní is one of the most biodiverse places on the planet and is home to some of the world's last indigenous groups living in voluntary isolation from the outside world.
But it is under threat from oil companies desperate to start drilling up the half a billion barrels of oil underneath it. Exploiting Yasuní's oil would destroy this UNESCO reserve and will result in significant loss of life for its inhabitants. All this for a mere five days' oil for the rest of the world.

Fiji Water Announces Carbon Footprint and Carbon Strategy

Fiji Water announced today that it had joined the Carbon Disclosure Project Supply Chain Leadership Collaboration to fully disclose the carbon footprint of its products. The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the world's largest investor coalition on climate change, will work with FIJI Water to engage with suppliers to disclose their emissions.
