WePOWER, a developer of clean energy solutions, has acquired the patented and proprietary wind energy technologies of PacWind. PacWind has developed vertical axis wind turbines.  Both companies are US in origin.

Tesco gets wind turbine approval despite local protests

Tesco has received approval to build a 10m (33ft) high wind turbine in Poole, Dorset despite protests from local people. The supermarket is loking to erect the turbine in its car park.  Locals have argued that it will be an eyesore in a conservation area. The company said the six kilowatt turbine would save 13.6 tonnes of CO2 a year and was specifically created for built-up areas.

SolarWorld defies the gloom in year end results

SolarWorld, the listed German renewable energy company, has defied the gloom reporiting record results in 2008 and a strong order book in the new 2009 year. Both revenues and operating profits increased by 30 per cent over the previous year.  The company reported revenue of EUR 900 million and EBIT of EUR 260 million giving it one of the highest operationg margns in the solar industry

UK minister confirms consent for three new power stations

Energy and Climate Change Minister Mike O'Brien has granted consent for three new power stations.  The power stations, capable of providing approximately four million homes with electricity, are to be constructed at Pembroke, King's Lynn and Hatfield. The power stations collectively will produce around 4 gigawatts of power.
