New book challenges the role of CO2 in global warming

A new book, Heaven+Earth, has challenged the link between rising carbon dioxide and global warming.  The book, written by Ian Plimer, an eminent and well known professor of geology, looks at the role carbon dioxide has played in the planet's development and concludes that carbon dioxide is probably not the culprit for rising temperatures.

Plimer's book is timely and follows other recent articles from academia that is challenging the link between carbon dioxide and climate change.  The book argues that climate is dynamic and that there are other greater influences on climate other than carbon dioxide.  These include the movement of the solar system through the universe, the activity of the sun, the rotation of the plaent, volcanic activity and the movement of the continents.

The book is heavily cross referenced and has been peer reviewed.  It has met a hostie reception in the Australian media, Plimer is Australian, nevertheless its arguments and approach have there own validity in a debate where the science is not settled but conclusions like melting glaciers and warming deserts are.  It is well worth reading.  Our climate is changing and this book will help many readers new to the subject to better understand our past so that they can make better judgements about what is happening now and in the future.
