Worldwatch has published a report that says that population growth is unsustainable.  It identifies population growth as a critical force behind many of today's most serious problems.

Worldwatch Vice President Robert Engelman is lead author of the U.N. Population Fund's 2009 report State of World Population, which highlights the linkages between population, gender, and climate change.  The report is available for purchase at www.worldwatch.org.
