10:10 campaign kicks off

The 10:10 Project which seeks to get individuals, organisations, governments and business to cut carbon emissions by 10% in 2010, started today.  The idea, which is gaining wide support in the low carbon community, seeks to personalise the commitment to a reduction in carbon output by asking participants to pledge.  Anyone can sign up by going to www.1010uk.org.

The 10% target is seen as being bold by many, but if there is an emphasis on the reduction in the use of energy in the construction and automotive sectors, then as this web site has always argued, it should be achieveable, even allowing for things like population growth.

The website tells you how to get involved and importantly, helps you find ways to reduce your use of energy.  The key to hitting the target will be behaviour change.  Expect more grass roots movements like this and more that will be very locally focussed.
