LPG – less smoke, same poke

It's easy to get swept along on the tide of enthusiasm for electric hybrid vehicles. But this is now, says editor Mark Williams, and right now, LPG has much to offer.
While LPG lost its lustre as an automotive fuel in recent years, the rocketing price of oil and a lenient tax policy has put it right back at the top of the agenda for some fleets.
LPG is a fossil fuel, so it doesn't tick all the boxes, but carbon emissions from LPG are a 20% improvement over petrol, particulate emissions are almost non-existent and there's a massive reduction in NOx.

Telematics: a route to fuel savings

Telematics had a troubled introduction to the fleet world with its ‘Big Brother' connotations. However, a decade or more on, the ‘spy in the cab' has become established as a ‘must have' says Ashley Martin. Rarely have fleet decision-makers been handed such a revolution. In a few short years, GPS and GPRS have ended an age when drivers could be ‘invisible' after they'd left the depot.
CarsNow, ‘track and trace' systems can improve fuel economy, boost productivity, limit their at-work driving risk exposure and reduce their transport carbon footprint through effective journey and mileage management.
Simultaneously, drivers seem to have accepted that far from being the enemy within, telematics can be their friend in the event of them having to defend themselves against accusations of speeding or failing to deliver an order on time, for example.
Meanwhile, although telematics has largely been the preserve of commercial vehicle fleets in today's 24/7 world of just-in time deliveries, there is increasing evidence that the satellite technology is finding its way into company cars.

Ethanol Producer Magazine Reveals Plan To Vilify Ethanol In US

The “food-versus-fuel” debate being waged in the United States has been nothing more than a cleverly planned public relations campaign. A request for a public relations proposal put forth by the Grocery Manufacturers Association and the media campaign response by Glover Park Group prove that there has been a concerted effort to attack the ethanol industry. Both docum...
